Photo trip: In the realm of pubescent oak
In the early hours of Saturday, June 18, we started to explore the realm of pubescent oak 'with dew-toe' and the morning sunrays transforming the landscape around us. We’ve already been here the day before, but the nature’s morning numbness revealed us the myriad of small creatures living in the grass. With macro lenses we entered this fascinating and unexpected world of petals and leaves, we felt the pulse of this microcosm, and saw the struggle between predator and prey...
In the evening, gathered around the computer, each of us had the difficult task of selecting only ten photos out of the hundreds taken during these days. Out of the chosen photographs, the organizers will select only three by each participant, for a group exhibition to be inaugurated Friday, June 24 at the “Liviu Rebreanu” Cultural Centre of Aiud.
During the three days we have discovered new friends and found out new ways for future collaboration. We thank the organizers for inviting us to participate in this project!
'The realm of pubescent oak' is a project initiated by the Biounivers Association in collaboration with Inter-Art Foundation in Aiud, and funded by Environmental Partnership Foundation and Mol Romania. This project aims to protect a species of oak characteristic to the Mediterranean area (Quercus pubescens), which is now very rare in Romania. The protected area is located on the eastern side of the Apuseni Mountains, the low hills of Aiud, near the village Mirăslău, and covers an area of 54.9 hectares.
The photography workshop (17-19 June, 2011) was one of the above mentioned project’s activities, and its purpose was the photographic documentation of biodiversity in the protected area. The pictures are to be used to promote the protected area and the thematic route. Four members of the ErKE Association were invited to participate in this workshop: Attila Fullajtár, Róbert Lukács, Orășanu Carmen and Márton Vremir.
