Workshop: Analogue Photography
March, 24, starting at 2 pm. Location: Light House Studio
Today, we’ve been attending all day long (and a bit of night) the workshop about analogue technique in photography. I think it was by far the most interesting workshop I attended so far. We were shown the tools, as well as chemicals used in developing, enlarging, mounting, etc., as well as steps to follow in order to get results on photo paper. To develop something, first you need a film frame, so we all went (do not know who is all) in urban areas to shot some portraits. For me it was perhaps the first contact with an analog camera, so the feeling was amplified. After each of us took several shots, we got back in the studio, where the dark room was waiting for us. The film was developed by Sooska, and some of us witnessed by touching, without any sexual connotation. We waited for dusk (which happened an hour later, of course) and then we’ve met the enlargement device. Solutions were prepared and the magic followed. The white paper has slowly emerged a shadow, a silhouette, a face, a background. All of us were booby (even Blendy looked curious, pointing her ears upwards, carefully watching every move Sooska made). I think you cannot express with words what you feel when you see something created by you, appearing in front of you, more and more intense. We can now understand why photo enthusiasts talk about these old times with tears in their eyes. Each of us got a picture of the three he took. Honestly I cannot wait to develop the other pictures.
Looking forward for more.
For those who do not love the tradition and the beginnings of photography by default, they had to invent the color film to bring the color into black and white photography.
For the rest, the film had and still has a charm.
Yet I never imagined that you can feel like a child who is shown a new magic when the picture takes shape gradually, under your eyes.
From now on, the future will include the past. Concretely!
